United Arts? Launches Unique Online Fundraising Platform Connecting People to Cultural Projects
[Raleigh, NC] ? The United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County will launch www.power2give.org, a new fundraising platform to support arts projects in Wake County, on Monday, December 10, 2012.
Power2give.org is an online cultural marketplace designed to connect donors with projects they are passionate about. Arts organizations will list needs for a specific project? for example, metronomes for musician s from low income families or costumes for an upcoming production. People visiting the site will then be able to pick a need that interests them and make a donation. Projects range from $100 ? $2500 to fit all budgets.
With high-net-worth giving from individuals down 71 percent since 2007 (source:? Center for Philanthropy) and 2010 trends (per Guidestar) indicating an increased number of gifts with smaller average gift sizes, increased e-mail outreach, and increased desire for transparency on where gifts go, power2give.org represents the future of the philanthropic landscape. By leveraging the wealth of social media outlets available today, power2give.org creates a closer relationship between donors and the organizations they support.
?This emphasis on social media is not only directly in line with predicted philanthropic trends, but it also helps foster deeper connections to encourage consistent and longtime support of the organizations that play such an important role in the cultural life of Wake County,? says United Arts President/CEO Eleanor Oakley.
By using a giving platform specifically devoted to supporting arts and cultural initiatives, cultural consumers in Wake County can become donors and help the organizations they love turn their dreams into a reality.? With tools and resources for both donors and cultural organizations, power2give.org makes posting, donating and promoting projects convenient and engaging.
The platform was developed by the Arts and Science Council of Charlotte, which launched in August 2011 for the Charlotte area.? Since then, total funds raised have reached $590,702 (including matching funds of $271,925), with a total of 2,013 donors and 232 projects.
